On-boarding and payment

Problem

People forget their re-usable bottles, lose them, or simply don’t want to carry them around all day. They also want more options for beverages other than water.

Goal

To ditch single-use plastic and curb our plastic waste crisis our goal is to offer a practical and sustainable infrastructure to how people access and use drinking bottles.

How does it work?

  • Rent a bottle, pay a small fee

  • Fill your bottle, use any flavors, carry it while you’re thirsty!

  • Drop it off at a return station

  • Pay a charge for the bottle if it never re-enters the system

Where can we improve?

From measuring two consumer experiences, plastic bottle users, and re-usable bottle users, we developed what an ideal consumer waveline could look like. Through optimizing wonder, joy, and inspiration consumers can feel empowered to reduce the amount of plastic waste in the environment.

Initial prototype and testing

Bottle Box was brought to life with found materials on campus and tested with classmates. We discovered serveral areas to improve upon:

For kiosk screens:

  • An option to see a map of near by stations would be helpful

  • The text should be reduced

  • there's an opportunity for more enhancing our UI with video / animations / visuals

For the structure of machine:

  • The drop off section and the dispensary could be place in one section

  • The display case can be moved down to make room for the drop off section
